Writing + Mark Making

TWSBI ECO Fountain Pen Broad Nib

This fountain pen is a dream, my fav for sure. I write at a high angle and not many fountain pens are equipped for that.

Pilot G2 1.0mm Pen

The pen I reach for every morning as I sit down for morning pages. I love a bold, inky pen!

Fude Ball 1.5mm Pen

My go-to for outlining boxes in my grid journal.

Blackwing Pencils

A luxury, but one worth investing in.
Matte (soft) - mark making + scribbles
Natural (extra firm) - writing + more mark making

Caran d’ache Neocolor 2 sets

Water soluble, bright vibrant colors. What else is there to say? Perfection!

Chunky Mechanical Pencil 5.6mm

Pencil scribbles are always a go-to starting point for me — sometimes you need a chunky line width!

Fineline Applicators (3 pack)

Fill these with any ink to create thin, precise lines.

Presto Pentel Jumbo White Correction Pen

The BEST white mark-making tool. Juicy, quick to dry, raised texture, and marks over nearly any surface.

Sakura Solid Markers

Marks over everything. Permanent once dry. A set is nice, but I mostly reach for black + white.

Stabilo Woody Black

A chunky version of a Stabilo All pencil — love the thick lines. This plus water is the quickest way to add a bit of grunge to the page.

Paints + Inks + Mediums

Blick Matte Acrylic Paint

A lovely matte paint. White - more opaque than gesso! Black - alternative to my fav, black gesso, when I don’t want it to dry as quickly.

Acrylic Inks

I purchase based off color, less by specific brand. I like Amsterdam, Daler Rowney, and Liquitex.

Golden Acrylic Paint

Across the board, Golden paint is my favorite:
High Flow
Fluid
Heavy Body

Liquitex Acrylic Paint

Another great option that I reach for.

White Gesso

Liquitex has been my go-to, but I’ve been giving Nova a try, and like that as well!

Golden Black Gesso

Ultra opaque and quick to dry. It’s so good.

Golden Airbrush Medium

Add this plus water to thicker paints to create your own acrylic inks!

Paper

HP 32 Premium Printer Paper

The smoothest printer paper ever! You’ll find yourself grabbing this paper for all sorts of projects.

Large Grid Paper 1 inch

A novelty, but a fun addition to your paper stash.

Richeson Drawing Paper Pack -
11" x 14", 100 lb, 400 Sheets

A huge stash of paper. A great choice of paper for making Everything Journals

Sulphite Drawing Paper 9x12

My go-to paper in my studio. Affordable, holds up well to wet media (yes, it warps, but in the most delightful way), not too thick or thin.

Tru Ray Heavyweight Construction Paper 18x24

Perfect size for underpaper.

Vellum Paper (recollections)

Nice, thick transparent paper. Like the weight of cardstock, but in vellum!

Bookbinding

Flat Waxed Thread

Not too waxy, like a lot of waxed binding thread. My sensory issues thank me for this one. Plus, it’s easier to not pierce the thread as you are binding. Score!
Black - most used
Bamboo Green - basically a neutral in my book
Variety Bundle - match to even your most niche projects

Awl

An essential for every book binder.

Bone Foler - Teflon Diagonal Craftelier

I love the weight and shape of this bone folder! I also use this to get bubbles out after glueing paper.

Stitching/Textiles

Aurifil Black Sewing Thread

Having trouble with your sewing machine? Quality thread is a nonnegotiable. (Btw, thread “expires”! It gets more brittle as it ages - so save those thrifted vintage spools for decorative hand stitching.)

Clover Needle Threader

The best needle threader. None of that thin wire BS that breaks the first time you use it.

Cotton Tea Towels

A staple for me. Great for fabric dyeing. I’ve purchased both of these multiple times.
Looser weave.
Less loose weave.

Crochet Thread Aunt Lydia’s

A decent alternative to sashiko thread.

Embroidery Floss

DMC is my fav. I use anywhere from one strand to all six at the same time, depending on the look I’m going for.

Embroidery Needles

The hand sewing needle I reach for most often. A pretty standard needle, but with a larger eye for easier threading.

Fabric Mesh Bags

A fun textured fabric to add! Quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Muslin Gauze Burp Cloths

One of my favorite fabric types to work with! This is six layers of soft gauze — I usually pull them apart and use each layer individually.

Painter's Canvas Drop Cloth

An absolute dream to stitch through. Often used as an inside fabric on my soft-cover journals. Also, easy to throw on the floor when things are about to get messy.

Sashiko Thread

Sashiko thread has exceptional durability. Designed to be used as a single strand (versus embroidery floss that can be divided.)

Sewing Machine Needles
Universal 80/12

The needle that I usually have in my sewing machine - I use it for most everything!

Singer Heavy Duty 4432 Sewing Machine

Solid. Reliable. Easy to use.

Paint Tools

Silicone Art Brush

A fav way to spread paint, especially when I don’t want to see brush strokes.

Princeton Select Paint Brushes

Can’t go wrong with these, another favorite option!

Simply Simmons Paint Brushes

I come back to these again and again! They hold up great, and they aren’t so pricey that I’m timid to use them.

Tapes + Adhesives

Blick Artist Tape

I especially love the Black .5” version!

Double Sided Tape

I have this in about six different widths, and I refuse to be without it! Comes in handy for so many projects.

Drywall Tape

A fun addition. This is paper, not plastic like most drywall tapes I’ve seen - a major plus! Can also be used as a stencil.

Masking Tape Set

These have a great texture and all the different widths are great.

Paper Tape

This type of tape has quickly become my favorite. It’s semi-transparent, perfect for layering with collage, and surprisingly strong!
White
Tan

Post-it Label Tape:
Removable Cover-Up Tape

Perfect for taped grid journal spreads. Clean & easy removal with sharp lines.

Jumbo Darice Glue Sticks

Once you use these big guys, you’ll never go back. Makes quick work of gluing large papers.

Uhu Glue Sticks

Tried and true favorite general-purpose glue sticks.

Adhesive Remover Wipes

My secret weapon for cleaning up gunky residue on scissors and sewing machine needles.

Embellishments

Binder Rings 3”

My go-to size for creating BB RingDex journals.

Black Binder Clips

Perfect mix of functional + aesthetic.

Black Safety Pins (assorted)

One of my favorite embellishments, love having a variety of sizes.

Bulb Safety Pin

A fun alternative to regular safety pins. Love these to create little fringey embellishments.

Jumbo Black 4 Inch Paper Clips

The long reach of these paper clips hold all my pages in place while book binding.

Tools

Color Wheel

A nice tool to have when exploring new color schemes.

Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 Wireless Wide-format Printer

This has served me well! Pair with HP 32 paper for general use. Or Canon Matte Photo Paper if you want vibrant results.

Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plates

The 3”x5” size is perfect to use as an “ink pad” for paint when using foam stamps. I reach for the 8”x10” size most.

General's 3-in-1 Pencil Sharpener

Everyone needs a reliable pencil sharpener! Great for regular and colored pencils.

Gingher Fabric Scissors

A big pet peeve is having to gnaw through fabric with bad scissors. Having a pair designated for fabric only is a must for me.

Knipex pliers

Save your hands when stitching through thick materials by using pliers to pull the needle through.

Long Reach Stapler

It’s surprising how often this thing comes in handy!

Mr. Pen 12 inch Machinist Ruler

I love all Mr. Pen rulers. High quality and tons of helpful markings.

Olfa 6”x8” Cutting Mat

A small handy size. Also, easily portable!

Omnigrid 6" x 12" Rectangle Quilting and Sewing Ruler

It’s surprising how often this comes in handy. I use for paper and fabric projects! See through to all the measurements to better visualize what your are cutting.

Tim Holtz Scissors

These scissors are so good, I have them in 3 sizes! The serrated edge and XL handles make all the difference.
5” - sewing snips + fussy cutting
7” - general purpose
9.5” - long cuts

Joggles / Brooke Henry Foam Stamps

Designed by me, sold by Joggles. These foam stamps are sold in a set of nine and individually.

Joggles / Brooke Henry Stencils & Masks

My set of 10 stencils and masks is available from Joggles. You can purchase the set or each stencil individually. These are great for adding layers to any mixed media project.
